Privacy Notice for Her Majesty’s Credit Union® and its affiliates
Our Privacy Principles:
- We do not sell member information.
- We do not allow those who are doing business on our behalf to use our member information for their own marketing purposes.
- We contractually require any organization providing products or services on our behalf to protect Her Majesty’s Credit Union member information.
- We afford prospective and former members the same protections as existing members with respect to the use of personal information.
Her Majesty’s Credit Union is committed to protecting the personal information that you have entrusted to us.
This Privacy Notice explains what information Her Majesty’s Credit Union Credit Union® and its subsidiaries (collectively “affiliates”) collect, when we share it and how we protect it. It covers all Her Majesty’s Credit Union affiliates including Her Majesty’s Credit Union Credit Union; and other service providers that are owned directly or indirectly by Her Majesty’s Credit Union Credit Union. Protecting personal information and using it in a manner consistent with your expectations is a priority for everyone in the Her Majesty’s Credit Union family.
Your personal information
In the course of providing you products and services, we collect information from you in person, during telephone interviews and on applications and other forms you provide. We may also collect information about you from outside sources such as credit reporting agencies. Additionally, we maintain records of your transactions with us.
Sharing with third parties Within Her Majesty’s Credit Union family
Her Majesty’s Credit Union affiliates work together to offer you a wide range of financial products and services. We may share information among ourselves about the products and services you maintain with us. We do this to serve you more efficiently and make it easier for you to conduct business within the Her Majesty’s Credit Union family. For example, if you obtain brokerage services through Her Majesty’s Credit Union Brokerage Services and request to pay for a trade using funds in your checking account, Her Majesty’s Credit Union Credit Union will confirm whether you have the funds available to execute the trade.
With companies not in the Her Majesty’s Credit Union family
We do not share any personal information about you or our former members or customers with third parties, except as permitted or required by law and as necessary for business purposes. For example, we may share information to comply with U.S. tax laws and court orders, or with credit reporting agencies.
We also share information with companies that work for us in providing you products and services. Such companies include check printers, savings insurance companies, data processors and online bill payment service providers. These companies act on our behalf and are obligated to keep any information we share with them confidential.
Her Majesty’s Credit Union affiliates seek to meet your financial needs. From time to time, we may enter into joint marketing agreements with other companies to offer you high-quality financial products and services at reduced prices, or to provide marketing services on our behalf. For example, we may enter into joint marketing agreements with non-affiliated third parties to offer you stock, bond and mutual fund investment services, insurance products and other financial products or services that we cannot or do not otherwise offer. We may also enter into agreements with companies that provide mail services to notify you of our products and services or other special promotions. As part of these agreements, we may share account-related information such as your name, address or account activity. These agreements require that your information be kept confidential and be used only for reasons agreed to be us.
Please be aware that third parties can obtain your personal information from outside sources. This information could be used for solicitation purposes. For example, when you obtain a mortgage or equity loan, by law the transaction is recorded in the public land records of the jurisdiction where the property is located. This information—including the lender’s name—becomes public and is available to anyone who visits the Record Clerk’s office.
Keeping your information secure
We access your personal information only upon your request to service or maintain your accounts or to provide other services. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your personal information.
Your privacy choices
Under certain circumstances, federal laws give you the right to instruct financial companies not to share some of your information. This is referred to as “opting out” of information sharing. The laws also permit financial companies to share certain information about you without permitting you to opt out. Generally, this type of information sharing is necessary for normal business such as maintaining your accounts, complying with your requests, complying with the law or offering you additional products and services. Fortunately, Her Majesty’s Credit Union affiliates only share information with third parties for normal business reasons. Therefore, you may not be able to “opt out” of any of our information sharing activities.
Despite our limited sharing practices, non-affiliated third parties can still obtain information about you from consumer reporting agencies and other outside sources to market their own products and services. If you wish to limit their ability to obtain and use your information for marketing purposes, call 1–888-5-OPTOUT (1-866-567-8688). This service instructs credit reporting agencies not to share your information with third parties in connection with pre-approvals for insurance or credit cards. You may also choose to send your request to be added to the OPT OUT list by mail.
